Setup guide

This takes a few minutes and needs only your phone. Have your home Wi-Fi password handy.

Written for the MFD-7. Setup for other products will be added on their pages.

First-time setup

  1. Power it on. Plug the USB-C cable into the display and a 5 V power supply. Any 5 V USB-C supply works.
  2. Join the setup network. On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings and join PlaneRadar-Setup. If your phone says there is no internet, stay connected anyway.
  3. Open the setup page. A setup page should open by itself. If it does not, open a browser and go to plane-radar.local or 192.168.4.1.
  4. Add your Wi-Fi and location. Choose your home Wi-Fi, type its password, and enter your location so the radar is centered on your home.
  5. Save. Tap save. Planes should appear in under a minute.

After setup

Change settings later

With the display on your Wi-Fi, open plane-radar.local in any browser on the same network.

Using the screen

Tap a plane for its details, tap the photo to see it full screen, and drag to move around the radar.

If something goes wrong

The setup network does not appear

Give it a minute after plugging in, then check your phone's Wi-Fi list again. If it still does not show, unplug the display and plug it back in.

My Wi-Fi is not in the list

The display needs a 2.4 GHz network. If your router is 5 GHz only, turn on its 2.4 GHz band or use a phone hotspot for setup.

The setup page does not open

Open a browser and go to plane-radar.local or 192.168.4.1 while your phone is still joined to PlaneRadar-Setup.
