What it does
Live radar
Aircraft near your home on rings and crosshairs with N, S, E and W marks, redrawn about every second. Each plane is a heading triangle with callsign, type and altitude beside it.
Tap for details
Callsign, type, speed, altitude, squawk, registration, manufacturer or operator, and a small photo. Tap the photo to see it larger, tap again to close.
Pan, zoom, trails
Drag to move the view. Five range presets (5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 km), and a dynamic zoom that keeps a comfortable number of planes on screen. Optional fading trails show where each plane just was.
Map and runways
An optional dark map background for the USA and Canada, and a runway overlay for major airports nearby.
Alerts
An optional beep on the built-in speaker when a military or emergency-squawk aircraft appears. Off by default.
Small details
Military aircraft are drawn in olive. Light aircraft are drawn smaller and heavy jets larger. A dashed ring marks a position that is older or less precise. Up and down marks show climbing and descending planes.
Choose what each tag shows
Callsign, type and altitude by default. Speed and squawk can be added.
Made for a desk
Adjustable brightness and a sleep timer of 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, or never.
Setup takes a few minutes
- Plug in the USB-C cable.
- On your phone, join the Wi-Fi network PlaneRadar-Setup.
- Open plane-radar.local (or 192.168.4.1), pick your home Wi-Fi, enter its password and your location, then save.
After setup you can change Wi-Fi, location, runway and trail settings from any browser at plane-radar.local. A button on the board changes the range. Holding it for 3 seconds clears the saved Wi-Fi and location so you can start setup again.

Questions
Do I need an app or a subscription?
No. Setup happens in your phone's browser and there are no monthly fees.
Does it need its own ADS-B antenna?
No. All it needs is an internet connection.
Will every plane show up?
Most aircraft with an ADS-B transmitter, which includes nearly all airliners, show up. Some small planes and older aircraft don't carry one.
Why do some planes have no photo?
Photos come from public aircraft photo databases. Rarer aircraft and some private planes do not have one yet.
Does it work outside the US?
It works wherever there is ADS-B coverage and Wi-Fi. The optional map background covers the USA and Canada. Elsewhere you still get the radar, details and photos, without the map layer.
Can I change the units?
Distances currently show in miles.
Does it work with the 7 inch model?
Both show the same live data. The 7 inch has a full-screen map, and this one is a round radar. See the MFD-7.
